Anyway, here's what I've been busy with. As I said in the post I made last year, I'm now working as a RA at the college I'm in, which really is a blast! Of course, it takes a lot of my time, especially now that I've been assigned to the apartments. GO ME! I should start on name tags... Anyhow, I've also been volunteering, and now I spend at least one weekend every month in the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center. Hard, hard work, but it's soooo worth it. Even if I don't sleep. I've also finally settled on a degree! I'm going into Art Entrepreneurship. I would say that again, but it's really hard to spell right! Anyhow, it means that I'm still learning art, but with a focus on how to make an actual business out of it! Which means that on top of my classes next semester I'm also taking the first of my two internships in the gallery at the school here. There goes my free Fridays!
Of course, there actually is a reason for this degree. See, I finally realized what the perfect job is, and it came from realizing what this town needs for the art majors. A supply store! Yes indeed, I am planning to open my own art supply store as soon as I get out of college and get the money built up. Maybe I'll make a donation fund or something. Paypal is nice for that, right? If anyone has any advice on how to make large amounts of money for such a thing feel free to tell me, cause all my ideas won't quite get me there! If I can manage to get enough money for a large enough building [and the one I REALLY want is $500,000] then I'd also like to set up an art gallery for artists in town and an occasional show [possibly from out of country] and some studio space where people can learn different art techniques or just come and work if they need a place to get away. I really just want it to be a great place for art type people to hang out, and since we're only fifty miles down a highway to a very popular tourist town I might even be able to do advertising there and get some tourists of my own!
Sorry.. I get really excited when I start talking about that idea. It's just something that feels right though. Everyone keeps saying you should love your job, and I think if I could do that then I really would, even if I never made a penny more than I need to live and keep the business running. That's pretty much what's going on in my life though, that and that I just bought a new laptop! Yay me! It's actually better than my desktop, but then my desktop is quite a few years old, so that's not too surprising. I'll probably get around to updating it sometime before I graduate too.. That or just get a new computer and donate that one to my art store idea. That seems like a good idea.
